Full form of BSF is the Border Security Force. BSF is a paramilitary force whose duty is to guard Indian borders and maintain peace. They also play an important role in preventing international crime. BSF is the world’s biggest and best- guarding force. It is part of Central Armed Police Forces of India. The supreme commander of BSF is home ministry. Headquarters of BSF is in Delhi. Soldiers of BSF are positioned mainly on the borders of Bangladesh, Pakistan and Myanmar etc. At present, there are more than 257,363 active BSF personnel serving the nation with full dedication. They were first to reach to Gujarat during the hard- hit earthquake in 2001. During communal riots in Gujarat, they worked hard to maintain peace. They helped The Indian army during the Kargil war.
BSF Full form
History
Earlier State Armed Police Battalion use to guard the Indian borders but when in 1965 neighboring country Pakistan invaded India on Char bet, Sardar post and Beria bet, State Armed Police Battalion failed to control the situation. That time the Indian government decided to make armed force which will be fully trained and armed with high tech ammunitions. The day was 1 December when BSF was formed to secure the border and handling all security issues on borders. Mr K F Rustamji was the first chief of BSF.
Eligibility
Candidates who want to be a part of BSF has to be 12 th pass out from any recognized board, though for different posts different eligibility criteria are there. For entering BSF one has to clear UPSC and SSC exams held by BSF. After clearing UPSC or SSC they have to clear other rounds. Rounds are a physical test, medical test and then interview process.
Age limit
Candidates applying for BSF should be 20 years or above, though different posts have different age criteria. For example for SI engine driver and Barring SI master age limit is minimum 22 years and maximum 28 years.

Duty of BSF
BSF personnel are always on duty round the clock performing the duty till death. They are asked to be ready on duty for anywhere, anytime and any task.
